Skylar Rogers’ life has been filled with suffering and pain before becoming the amazing singer she is now. Her first exposure to music was in church, although she was soon told she had no singing skills. Since that moment on, Skylar began a wandering life that brought her to a failed marriage, a second husband, a child death, life in the army, to work as a truck driver, to wander and live as a homeless on the streets, to suffer a terrible pneumonia which almost drove her to death or being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.

All these terrible hard experiences deeply marked her, but also made her realize she had to change things, so finally she decided to do what she had always wanted, that was to become a singer. To do so, she traveled to Memphis where she began to build up a career as a singer, starting to tour or sharing stage with Tab Benoit or Annika Chambers and mold a personal style deeply influenced by Tina Turner, Koko Taylor, Whitney Houston, BB King and other Motown musicians.

This is her third album, this time working with composer and producer Terry Wilson, who has put to her service some remarkable studio musicians like Bennett Salvay, Billy Watts, Brannen Temple, Teresa James, Snuffy Walden and Darrell Leonard. Together they have recorded twelve songs she has written with Terry Wilson, that give shape to a recording that covers styles like soul, roots music, Americana or rockin’ blues.

Skylar Rogers’ persistence, determination and performing strength can be felt not only in the music but also in the song lyrics and the powerful way to display them, which gives as a result a more than interesting and really consistent recording.
