Sherwood Fleming grew up in extreme poverty, picking cotton in a plantation near Lula in Mississippi At school the other children always told him he had to devote to sing the music of his coloured brothers The same thing said his colleagues of the local church choir One day he was listening to B B King on the radio, and suddenly he realized there was another life outside the plantation and there were other things than cotton, cotton and cotton In 1956 Sherwood moved to Los Angeles, following his mother desire to live in California There he tried to earn his life as a musician but he was a real and unfortunate loser, because all his attempts ended on a complete failure Discouraged he left the music and it was not until a few years ago that, thanks to the good feelings of Eddie Stout, owner of the new label Dynaflow Records who found him in very poor conditions, his life took an unexpected turn Eddie realized that, although Sherwood Fleming was eighty years old and his life had been hard, his excellent vocal conditions were intact Stout found him a job and gave him some gigs Shortly after Mr Fleming was recording this album backed by some of the most outstanding Austin blues musicians, like the Moeller brothers or Kazz Kazanoff Here come twelve great songs with southern blues and soul influences, performed from the deep part of the heart and an amazing strength, intensity and passion Today Sherwood Fleming still cannot believe he has come back to the music, so he is doubly grateful to Mr Eddie Stout and to the good Lord, for giving him a new opportunity to show his undeniable quality
