Santa Blues de Tenerife (SBT) comes back to the capital of Tenerife, in its 19th edition, on May 19 and 20 with two concerts and five bands where two North American artists, Astrid Arthur and Bruce ‘Mississippi’ Johnson stand out.

Both concerts, immersed in the programming of the Santa Cruz May Festival, will take place on the stage that the City Council will provide in Plaza de la Candelaria starting at 9:00 p.m. with the sponsorship of the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and its Autonomous Organization for Culture and the Government of the Canary Islands through its Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce (Promotur Turismo de las Islas Canarias), the Canarian Institute for Cultural Development (ICDC) and the European Regional Development Fund.

As last year, The SBT, goes forward again to the month of May. As in all previous editions, there will be a free access event.

The first blues show will be on Friday, May 19, with the Valencian Maho Blues Band in a ‘power trio’ format, which will open the 19th edition starting at 9:00 p.m., preceeding the quintet led by the stellar voice of the American singer Astrid Arthur, a diva of gospel, soul and ‘black music’ coming from Georgia, with several Grammys won during her long artistic career (one of them for an album recorded with Whitney Houston’s mother).

The second evening of the SBT will start at the same hour on Saturday 20th, led by Bruce ‘Mississippi’ Johnson & The Blues Criminals, a USA quintet with the most genuine ‘bluesy’ stamp, which will close the night after the performance of two local bands, with the stellar bright of the actual benchmark of the legendary North American river basin most traditional style.
