This is the first full album by Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar, a band that regularly plays in the area of Toronto, Canada Recently they have called the attention of specialised media and fans, thanks to a carefully chosen repertoire based on soul music, gospel and blues Samantha’s amazing voice has been often compared with Mavis Staples’ or Sharon Jones’ ones Of the eleven cd songs eight are Martin’s own ones Besides displaying her singing skills and great vocal qualities, Samantha plays acoustic and resonator guitars with a fine good taste too She is supported by Mickey McCallum on guitar, Jimmy Hill on organ and the backing voices of Sherie Marshall and Stacie Tabb From the first song Give Me Your Mercy where Martin gives free rein to her amazing vocal strength, to Don’t Shoot or Tell The Heavens, the whole album becomes a brilliant example of an expressive force and is the perfect soundtrack to express different feelings like courage, anger, rage, love or vulnerability
