Sam Salomone plays keyboards in Bob Dorr’s band (see the previous review). Now Salomone has recorded a cd under his own name. He has got out the most conventional blues to go up into a more risky and personal world. About sixty four minutes of funk, groove, r&b, jazz and some fusion music on a cool vitalist cd, where Hammond B3 has the leading role, together with some excellent horn arrangements. Plenty of good, cool and original ideas along this interesting record with five versions of West Montgomery, Miles Davis, Larry Young, Don Jaques and Earl King tunes and five Sam’s own songs. A specially recommendable cd for jazz and other similar style lovers.
