This is the first Sam Myers album recorded under his own name for Electro-Fi label since he joined guitar player Anson Funderburgh’s band His previous own cd, Mississippi Delta Blues was recorded for TJ label quite a long time ago, when he was only 42, with Jesse Russell on guitar, Robert Robinson on bass and Clarence Lee on drums… but this already belongs to blues history In this new Coming From The Old School, Sam gives us all his wide experience and skill, although in certain moments he seems to be a little bit absent or playing in a routine way Anyway it is always a great pleasure to enjoy with his personal voice and his deep harp performing good Chicago blues with the original typical ‘down-home’ hallmark he always gives to his music A cd that will surely captivate all traditional electric blues lovers but especially to harmonica fans
