A new album of Bruce Iglauer’s Alligator Deluxe series he regularly publishes, that include some of the most commercial well-known artists among international blues circles. This time the acoustic women trio Saffire brings us a compilation with twenty of their more representative songs that, those of you who are not familiar with these three women’s talent, should immediately get a cd copy. An album with a good dose of traditional blues and boogie by Ann Rabson’s piano and vocals, who also shows a great knowledge of fingerspickin’ technique when she plays acoustic guitar. On her turn Gaye Adegbalola gives us the spirit of Ma Rayney or Bessie Smith, when she leads the trio with her delightful voice, or playing guitar and harmonica. Finally Andra Faye brings us all her talent with a rich expressive voice and her bass, violin and mandolin playing. It is a delicious album that becomes essential for people who do not have the complete collection of the seven albums Saffire have recorded for Alligator records.
