This is the debut album by singer and harmonica player Russ Green, and the true thing is he has started on the right foot A passionate tribute to the city of Chicago can be felt along the whole recording, as well as a warm tribute to all musicians who helped to create this legendary distinctive sound which makes it unique to the ears of any good blues lover Russ’ appearance in blues music world did not happen until his adult years After being discharged from the US Navy, he studied film and cinema at the University of Illinois and it was there where he started to be interested in music He wanted to recreate the sound of Jimi Hendrix he deeply admired As he spent all his money to pay film, he could not pay for a guitar so he started to play harmonica Back in Chicago, he met Sugar Blue and Billy Branch who taught him the secrets of their harmonica phrasing, riffs, technique and sound, especially Sugar Blue he considers as the Jimi Hendrix of the blues harp The album includes ten original songs where he displays the characteristic actual Chicago blues sound, passed through the filter of the two just mentioned harmonica players with the collaboration of an excellent band plus Eric Bibb as guest musician in one song This is an appealing, dynamic and juicy album
