Roy Roberts knows well the musical language, especially soul and rhythm & blues styles. He proved his experience along the nineties, where he recorded five high quality albums. Robert discovered and fell in love with blues when he was only fourteen, when he listened on the radio Jimmy Reed’s “Baby What You Want Me To Do” and he decided to devote himself to music. His main influences were Solomon Burke, Otis Redding, B.B. King, Johnnie Taylor, Latimore and Eddie Floyd. At the end of the eighties he recorded and produced some local gospel artist on his own Virginia recording studio. On these two new recordings, this singer and guitar player tastefully and honestly reflects his particular own sound, a mixture of blues and soul, he has done for more than three decades. If you like Stax sound, with a powerful horn section backing a warm Roy Roberts vocals and the combination of the music of Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland with Robert Cray style, then these two cds will really satisfy you.
