Once again, Canadian singer and guitar player Rory Block displays her blues with a cool sweet clarity and very clever ideas, like she has been doing since, some decades ago, she started her musical career, led by her love and passion for Delta blues. Despite she is sixty-three years old, Rory Block still is one of the most brilliant and finest names who performs classic deep Mississippi rural blues. The sensitivity, beauty, emotional feeling snd the way she has to express the blues is really amazing and delicious. You will see it, not only in her own songs but also when she plays in the path of her youth heroes, such as Mississippi John Hurt or Son House, without forgetting Reverend Gary Davis she pays homage in this new album. In “I Belong To The Band”, Rory is warm and unaffected as ever, but especially gifted with a unique, personal and superb expressiveness. There are few women so brilliant like Rory Block, so every time she publishes a new cd, you really should enjoy it as if it was her last album.
