After devoting her life to sing and perform pre-war blues and folk music, now and after the confinement, singer and guitar player Rory Block has decided to release an album with some of those 60’s, 70’s and 80’s songs she has always loved, all performed by women, which were extensively broadcasted on Canadian radio stations during those decades.

To do so, Rory has selected eleven songs she develops on a semi-acoustic way giving to them a really singular and very personal stamp, which makes them sound quite different from the originals, thanks to her way of singing them and the special arrangements she has done. Compositions by rhythm and blues icons like Mavis Staples, Gladys Knight, Etta James, Martha And The Vandellas or Koko Taylor come together with some more contemporary ones from artists like Tracy Chapman, Carole King and Bonnie Raitt, plus one Rory’s own composition, in a frankly emotional tribute to all these legendary women. In the recording Rory Block sings, plays all guitars and percussion.

An album full of a delicious magic, where Rory shows her most intimate facet but, at the same time, full of consistency giving the best of herself and moving in a musical field her followers are not familiar with, which undoubtedly has been a surprise for most of her followers. Of course, Rory Block sounds as attractive and intense as usual.
