If anyone of Robert Lockwood Jr cds should be qualified as essential, undoubtedly this is one of them Robert was born in 1915 and he sonn became heir of Robert Johnson’s tradition and legacy, as Robert also was his stepfather At the beginning of the forties Lockwood teamed with Sonny Boy Williamson, to do the legendary ‘King Biscuit Time’ radio show and, at the end of that decade, he was one of the most requested guitar players of Chicago recording studios for his professional work and his cool guitar playing At the end of the forties and the beginning of the fifties, Robert was continuously requested to record for bluesmen like Otis Spann, Sonny Boy Williamson, Little Walter or Sunnyland Slim among others The cd was recorded in 1970 and reissued by the original Delmark label Lockwood is backed by the legendary Aces, who brightly build up the straight powerful basis to let Robert give the best of himself with his innate bluesy talent A fantastic record!
