The excellent virtuoso West Coast piano player Rob Rio comes again with sixteen instrumental treasures of pure classic thirties and forties boogie-woogie, all them issued in other previous cds. In this compilation entitled “Boogie Woogie Gold”, Rio pays homage with his piano (plus bass and drums in some tracks) to three essential and great master piano players over the years Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson and Meade Lux Lewis with a respectful pleasant vivid performing. But Rob also includes eight own compositions which at least can be considered as good as the ones of his piano heroes. The style, beat, phrasing and personal Rob performing are really amazing. It is a real pleasure to listen to all these boogies, done by such a de luxe artist as Rob Rio. Thank you, Mr. Rio for this delightful present!
