When two eclectic musicians with similar musical tastes and concerns like New Orleans organ and keyboard player Joe Krown and harmonica player and singer Jason Ricci meet on their ways, it is not strange that chemistry between them immediately comes out and their music styles not only match but also go in the same direction, which makes that both musicians contribute with their knowledge to musically grow. The result of their cooperation is this album recorded for Mike Zito’s Gulf Coast Records. Zito already knew them separately, Joe Krown as keyboardist in Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown and more recently in Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s bands, and Jason Ricci from the time that, like Zito, they belonged to the roster of Eclecto Groove Records. So Zito fully trusted in their proposal, which has been faithfully captured in this recording. Twelve songs that combine own compositions with some dark covers coming from Bobbie Gentry, Grant Green, Taj Mahal or Charles Brown with seven instrumental songs and five where Jason Ricci puts his voice on them, that give shape to this magnificent album where the groove of Joe Krown and the incendiary harmonica of Jason Ricci perfectly match, also counting with the collaboration of Doug Belote on drums.
