Some time ago Reverend Freakchild said in an interview that, concerning to his religious beliefs, he considered himself an inveterate Buddhist but, at the same time, music was for him like a true religion to feed his soul, his mind, his body and his spirit, something that allows him to explore the blues exceeding the normal limits of this kind of music.
This album is the seventeenth in his career where Freakchild goes through a wide variety of sounds, formulas and a long series of melodies where, once again, he reinvents himself as he has done in previous musical adventures. The Reverend has clear influences of folk-blues but also of bands like Grateful Dead he deeply admires, without forgetting his special taste for rock, soul, country and folk he successfully combines with an amazing originality.
Besides Reverend Freakchild on acoustic guitars, National Resonator and harmonica, the recording features Chris Bergson on guitar, Hugh Pool on lap steel guitar, guitars, harmonica, bass and vocals, Steve Sirockin on organ, Chris Parker on drums or Jeremy Barber on viola among many other high-quality musicians.
A recording full of magical and psychedelic moments, but also plenty of good blues like the song “Keep On Truckin'” coming from Blind Boy Fuller, where the Reverend pays tribute to those always beloved old Delta blues.
