Two experienced musicians like singer Beth Grigsby and her husband bass player RW Grigsby are the founders and leaders of this band called Red’s Blues Band Together with Doug Crumpacker on guitar and vocals and Tim Wilbur on drums, percussion and vocals, they develop a very colorful style which drive us to those incredible years where blues, rhythm and blues and swing were daily broadcasted in countless radio stations and also crowded dance halls which, fortunately, we can now enjoy thanks to this delightful album that includes eleven songs that have been recorded under the excellent direction and supervision of Kid Andersen, who also plays Wurlitzer electric piano in one song Other prominent artists who have also collaborated on the recording include Johnny Burgin on guitar in seven tracks, Rick Estrin on harmonica in one song, John Cocuzzi, Gruv Mitchell and Sid Morris on piano and organ in some songs and Kile Rowland on guitar and harmonica in one track The album opens with Broke Down in the Fast Lane an excellent mid-tempo blues shuffle Beth Grigsby sings in a dragged subtle and seductive way It is followed by some own compositions and few versions that follow the same path, that is to say, real vintage blues perfectly built up, developed with taste, charm and a point of sophistication given by all the excellent musicians who participate in this interesting project
