It has been a real surprise to listen to singer Raquel Yurrita’s new cd Born in Guipúzcoa in the north of Spain, she felt the call of country music, blues and gospel when she was only a small child Her love and passion for music led her to leave a good job and travel to Los Angeles to improve her musical skills and, at the same time, soak herself into Americana music she passionate loves Back in Spain she collaborated with various bands until she formed her own group This recording is a good way to introduce this singer, through a selection of eleven songs where listeners will be able to find from New Orleans blues to some gospel details, a good dose of country and, of course, Americana music Also mention Janiva Magness’s collaboration in some cuts, which gives a plus of interest for all roots music fans Although at some point the album may have a bit of lack of intensity, this does not mean you will not be able to discover all the potential, sensitivity, vocal qualities and, especially, the emotions displayed by this singer called Rachel Yurrita The album final production is also really satisfactory
