Queen Esther is a versatile vocalist who can sing with originality and reliability a variety of songs coming from so different artists like Son House, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, The Eagles, George Jones, Chip Robinson and even Lucinda Williams, as well as writing her own songs, which are all halfway between folk, pop, blues, country, rhythm and blues and Americana music. This is the case of this recording where Queen Esther tastefully and cleverly combines all these styles, in addition of doing a careful production and restrained elegant arrangements. The album has been recorded at Craig Dreyer’s Brooklyn’s Mighty Toad Recording Studios, together with some clever professional musicians who really know what to do in every song to make them unique and different. Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Queen Esther immediately got the cultural richness and the Afroamerican tradition, which are always present in her music. She is also an artist gifted with a surprising warm voice that catches and leads listeners to a musical paradise.
