I am impressed with Popa Chubby’s amazing ability to find different reasons to record more and more albums and increase his huge discography The idea for this new work came to him last year, after a show he played in Memphis He visited Sun Records studios and there he thought it would be a good idea to pay homage to fifties and sixties pioneers like Gene Vincent, Merle Haggard or Hank Williams Popa gives free rein to his past phantoms in new Vicious Country cd including thirteen tracks, half of them covers and the rest own songs, all them with that special old times flavour Besides the shinning sound of his guitar, he has also added some other soloist instruments, such as pedal steeel guitar and violin that give a higher interest to Popa’s new piece of work
