Singer and guitar player Popa Chubby releases a double album for Gulf Coast Records, recorded live at G. Bluey’s Juke Joint in New York on October 24 and 25, 2022.

This double album with nineteen songs in total, has reunited Popa with some musicians and good old friends like Mike Merritt on bass, Mike Dimeo on keyboards and vocals and Stefano Giudici on drums and vocals, besides sound engineer Glen Forrest who, in the early nineties, started his work as sound technician in the renowned jam sessions hosted by Chubby where you could meet artists like Allman Brothers, Stephen Stills, Odetta or Joe Sample among others. At that time Popa owned a small recording studio and asked Glen to work with him. From that moment on they started a strong friendship.

These two albums follow the musical line we are used to find in Chubby’s performing, that is no other than electrifying guitar solos based on energetic power-rock-blues developed with the usual quality this fantastic singer and guitarist treasures.

As Popa Chubby mentions, he grew up listening to Jimi Hendrix, Cream or Led Zeppelin, musicians who always lived on the edge but, for him bluesmen like Howlin’ Wolf or Muddy Waters also lived on the edge, because they didn’t hesitate to shoot someone if it was necessary and even Little Walter always carried a gun in his pocket and wouldn’t hesitate to use it.
