To celebrate that the three musicians who form The Polly O’Keary Band turn fifty in 2021, the band now releases this album with the simple title of “50”. Such simple title does not mean their music is also simple in content but just the opposite as, along the eleven songs which have been selected for the album, they combine blues with other genres like swing, rhumba, hill country blues, Motown, funk, rhythm and blues, southern rock, without forgetting Texas blues and even some Cuban rhythms. You will immediately see in the songs all the mentioned styles they tastefully and cleverly pass through their particular filter to cook an appetizing recording. If their previous release “Black Crow Callin'” got the finals at 2018 International Blues Challenge as Best Self-Produced CD, this one does not remind behind, as Polly O’Keary’s on vocals and bass work, together with Dave Miller’s good guitar work and the effective Tommy Cook’s drums skillfully match to bring listeners a thick greasy music, they develop in an attractive and able with the cooperation of some guest musicians.
