Pig Fat is an acoustic blues duo settled in Tarragona, with Richard ‘White Boy’ White on acoustic guitar and vocals and Carles ‘Junior’ Verges on acoustic guitar too Now, with their first cd, they drive us closer to the urban blues roots and they do it with a special sensitivity and a respectful reverence for the music they play The duo gives us a traditional Mississippi pre-war repertoire including eight songs and three additional versions, one coming from Mississippi John Hurt, another by Willie Brown and a third one by Tom Waits For these recordings they have had the valuable collaboration of Little Victor on slide guitar, Bert Deivert on mandolin and Samuel García on mandolin too, each one performing in one different song The principal aim of both musicians has been not to take unnecessary risks and show without an excessive makeup, the interesting task they have undertaken to test their huge abilities and love for a mostly disappeared kind of music, in a valuable and successful attempt to bring rural blues back to the place it rightly deserves
