The Phantom Blues Band was founded in 1993 to be Taj Mahal’s backing band for recording the cd Dancing The Blues The association lasted for some time, especially as Mahal’s backing band to play in venues, theatres, clubs, different festivals or tours in Europe and Japan Their knowledge of musical roots led them to be for some decades, a remarkable and most requested session musicians in the Hollywood area The Phantom Blues Band members have been behind many recordings of artists like Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Rolling Stones, Taj Mahal, Joe Cocker, Jimi Hendrix, Etta James, Leon Russell, Elton John, Little Feat and BB King In this album the band do a clever and tasteful mixture of different sounds and diverse styles like blues, jazz, r&b, gospel, rock ‘n’ roll and even reggae The group includes Tony Braunagel drums and percussion, Larry Fulcher bass and vocals, Mike Finigan keyboards and voice, Darrell Leonard trumpets, Joe Sublett saxos and Johnny Lee Schell guitar and voice On this third cd entitled Inside Out, the band combines and shows all their knowledge and experience to please us with this real faultless album
