Born in Birmingham, U.K., the career of singer and guitar player Paul Cowley started two decades ago when he received an old Yamaha steel guitar as a present. At that time Paul had no idea of the musical way he was going to take on but, little by little, he moved to old, raw, genuine country blues and pre-war Mississippi Delta sounds. After performing in countless clubs in England and quite disappointed by the stressing city life, Paul and his wife moved to a farm in Brittany France, where they opened a country hotel where Cowley follows on playing, as well as doing countless tours on France, Belgium and United Kingdom. The album was recorded between December 2020 and January 2021 gathering seven own compositions plus five versions of some of his favorite bluesmen who have most influenced his music like “Lost Lover Blues” coming from Blind Boy Fuller, “Screamin & Hollerin The Blues” by Charley Patton, “Louis Collins” by Mississippi John Hurt , “Confession Blues” by Ray Charles and “Love Changin Blues” by Blind Willie McTell, only performed with his guitar and, in some cases, with the collaboration of Pascal Ferrari on a cajon (box drum), drums, bass and guitar in one song. An excellent acoustic blues album where you with immediately discover the Paul’s passionate honesty as well as the genuine real spirit of the old deep-south blues.
