There has always been mentioned the connection between African and blues music and certainly I will not deny it This connection is totally confirmed by listening to Pascal Bokar’s music, a singer, guitar player, composer and banjo player who comes from Mali, Senegal Recipient of the Master Award by Berklee College Of Music and awarded as Outstanding Jazz Soloist, Pascal tastefully and cleverly mixes jazz with blues and African rhythms, as well as playing banjo and the rather unknown balafon, an instrument that comes from Western Africa and ancestor of the xylophone, instruments you will be able to discover in some of his songs After working with Dizzy Gillespie, Donald Byrd or Donald Bailey, Pascal now comes with an album with only six well developed that will give you different flavors and nuances, which are enough to appreciate the unique originality of this musician gifted with an undeniable quality
