Although It has been recorded in 2017 this is an album that, for its conception and sound, could belong to those old 50’s recordings coming from Specialty, Chess or Modern labels and, besides, it is the result of some lucky circumstances Sax player Sam Burckhardt was booked to play at 2017 Basel Blues Festival in Switzerland He got in touch with Joel Paterson to form a band for that particular event Both decided to recruit a number of Chicago blues musicians who, for different working reasons, never had the opportunity to play together on a band These musicians were singer Oscar Wilson who immediately felt enthusiastic with the idea, Pete Benson on organ and piano, Beau Sample on bass and Alex Hall on drums Together they decided it was a good idea to record this album to be presented at the festival The good atmosphere among all the musicians and the good music they played together can now be savoured and enjoyed along these magnificent old time blues sessions, including an excellent repertoire with a restrained genuine sound that will catch listeners from the first album notes If you like yesterday, today and forevermore blues, you certainly cannot miss the opportunity to get a copy of this so special and interesting album
