Omar Dykes is one of the most interesting relevant blues guitarists who can now be found around Austin area and Texas circuits although, sometimes, he also includes some bluegrass or country & western songs in his live shows and recordings Fifty years of music offer a lot and, of course, music has given everything to Omar Dykes Ken, better known as Omar, learned to play guitar when he was only twelve years old because, at that time, music had already become a real obsession for him It was in Bear Town, where black community lived, where Dykes learned to play blues and knew to deeply feel them Since then on he has been completely trapped and he has never get out of the blues alive In this new album, Omar Dykes brings us twelve lively and excellent songs, full of an intense strength You will simply find deep Texas blues, you know, slows, shuffles or rockin’ blues, that will catch you and go right to your bones, but at the same time, will pitilessly lull and shudder you, thanks to his passionate and powerful performing It is an excellent album, where Dykes’ voice and guitar playing shine at a very high level, backed by some prestigeous very professional musicians, especially Derek O’Brien on guitar and Ronnie James on acoustic bass
