One of the up and coming French blues musicians Dixiefrog label has again and successfully bet on, recording a new album, this time a double live cd Nico began to play harp when he was only eighteen He used to listen to blues lps but he was really impacted when he heard James Cotton’s harmonica playing in Muddy Waters’ Hard Again record and, since then on, his life changed and he was caught on blues Bright hard beating Chicago rock-blues is what you will find on these two cds The first one was recorded live in Tournon d’Agenais, France, with Nicos’ regular band and the second one was recorded live too, this time at Sitt’n Bull club in Maynard, near Boston, MS and Nico is backed by the cream of Boston area musicians, Dave Maxwell on piano, Kid Banham on guitar, Michael ‘Mudcat’ Ward on double bass and Per Henson on drums Although both cds are great I personally prefer the second one for Nico’s intense flaming powerful vocal and instrumental performing For some nights Nico Wayne Toussaint took Sugar Ray Norcia place
