Thanks to a special collaboration together with other guest musicians on a show in Castelldefels, Barcelona, American singer, songwriter and harmonica player now settled in Spain Mike Shannon was introduced to bass player Frank Andrada and guitar player Santi Picó Thanks to the good feeling and musical understanding among them, they decided to collaborate and record this great album we have on hands They recruited drummer Francesc Rabassa and, after a few rehearsals they got to work, recording seven Mike Shannon’s original songs and three versions like Statesboro Blues coming from Blind Willie McTell, One Way Out by Sonny Boy Williamson II and Whipping Post by Gregg Allman This is an album to be passionately savoured, thanks to the good work of these experienced battle tanned musicians who, with the name of Mr Sixty, express in an original and innovative way all Shannon’s musical ideas in a repertoire where they manage to tastefully and cleverly combine the sounds of sixties pop music with the most actual and strong rock and blues As ever Mike blows harp with an amazing elegant technique, along effective and accurate riffs Also mention his excellent vocal qualities he always puts in service to the good music gathered in the album
