The Spanish scene coming from the Basque area has a large roster of musicians and groups which found inspiration in different styles of American music like roadhouse, blues or southern rock. This is the case of the band Motelas formed by renowned instrumentalists from that particular area like Txenan Calvo on guitar and Alberto Bosch on bass. Both have collaborated in different projects and, as a result of those collaborations, came the idea of setting up this band called Motelas. To do so, they recruited Iñigo Elena “Helen” on vocals and Adrián Viñas on drums. The four musicians have similar musical tastes and influences that became evident in their first album entitled “Sunset Tapes” released a couple of years ago, which was recorded live.

This second one follows the same musical concept than the previous one. It gathers seven songs all framed in the American music they are so indebted with, and specifically, in rock-blues with a touch of psychedelia that take us back to some seventies’ artists and bands like Neil Young, Wilco, Drive-By Truckers and, personally speaking, in some special moments, they also bring me memories of that legendary band called Frijid Pink.

Los Motelas get out of sophistication and commerciality to directly go to those dusty, rough, dry and sometimes forgotten roads of southern blues rock, the band develops without no ambiguity, concealment or any kind of restrictions.
