Led by Gina Coleman’s deep voice, the Misty Blues come back, this time with a tribute album to singer Odetta (1930-2008), who was a great influence on many American folk performers like Bob Dylan, Joan Baez or even Janis Joplin.

Gina started her career as a theater actress and as a gospel singer as well. Later on, she put together a band which still is her own one, with the aim to pay tribute to those women who, during the twenties, thirties and forties, were decisive in the history and evolution of blues or jazz, without forgetting to include some folk music in the band repertoire, which precisely is the style she began her career as a singer.

Gina Coleman discovered Odetta many years ago and she always thought this artist had to be remembered, for her immense contribution she did to music. That is why she has decided to record a tribute album, so that her memory and her music continue to live and be remembered by people and music audiences.

The album was recorded live on March 9, 2024, and gathers eleven songs that, although they are developed with an actual instrumentation, take us back to the time when Odetta and many other singers like her were venerated and admired by black audiences, but who also managed to cross the borders of racism and became also recognized by white audiences.

Together with Gina Coleman on vocals, you will find Seth Fleischmann on guitar, Aaron Dean on sax, Joel Nicholas on piano, Eileen Markland on violin, Diego Mongue on bass, Rob Tatten on drums and vocals and Chantell McCulloch on backing vocals and percussion.
