Since she was twenty years old, Leslie Letven, aka Leslie Bixler or Miss Bix, has been involved in the music business, either with her husband Bill Bixler or, after her son birth, writing and composing children’s songs, which got a good success that allowed her to work with popular actors like Dick Van Dyke Once her son grew up, Leslie felt she had to give a turn to her professional career, so she traveled to Clarksdale, Mississippi, where she was totally caught by the blues spirit and magic becoming deeply captivated by this musical genre After immersing herself in the blues southern culture, she decided to start to compose blues songs Twelve of these compositions are the ones she now presents in this album entitled We Don’t Own The Blues Although she has also been influenced by so different artists like Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, Sting or John Mayer, Leslie’s voice adapts well to the blues, besides counting with a rich roster of remarkable effective musicians like producer and multi-instrumentalist Ralph Carter on bass, percussion, guitar and keyboards, John JT Thomas on keyboards, Gary Mallaber on drums, Franck Goldwasser (Paris Slim) on guitar, Bill Bixler on sax and RJ Mischo on harmonica All the album songs communicate the mystery and sensuous atmosphere of down home blues, where each song becomes a different story, full of a rich variety of nuances
