This album has a fantastic start with the song Traveling South, where Mikey Junior plays an attractive intense chromatic harmonica Personally I think this is the best Mikey Junior’s work so far Mikey is a first class and powerful singer and harmonica player He learned to play harmonica when he was only a teenager and he did it listening to his huge vinyl collection He gradually identified himself with the blues and finally he was completely devoted to the music, even before he graduated from high school In this new album Mikey has surrounded himself by a bunch of first class musicians who share his musical tastes, like inimitable Dave Gross on guitar and final production, Dean Shor guitar, Jeremy Baum, piano and B3, Matt Raymond bass and double bass and Michael Bram on drums The result is a solid album that includes excellent own blues songs, performed with the real old school flavor
