Mikel’s first work was published in 1997 and it gives a good bunch of own songs He is backed by The Metrosonics which give him the perfect support to developp his tasteful singing and harmonica playing, allowing him to concentrate in his own performing without having to care for the rest of the musicians Billy Gibson produced the album and he also played harp as a special guest in Point of Departure The result is a satisfactory cd where lyrics and Mikel’s own compositins must be pointed up His second album, In Transit was published in 1998 It was also produced by Billy Gison who plays chromatic harp in some tunes too as a special guest Probably this second one is better done and performed than his first one He also has an interesting group of guest artists, but for me is less natural and spontaneous than his first one But this does not mean that Mikel is not splendid on harp, bringing up an original personal style that does not foget his Little Walter’s and Sonny Boy Williamson’s influences
