Now aged 55, singer, guitar player and songwriter Mighty Mike Schermer has just released his eighth recording under his own name in the pandemic period at Kid Andersen’s Greaseland Studios in San Jose, California.

As Mighty Mike often says “Albert Collins made me want to play guitar but John Hiatt made me want to be a good songwriter, but it was listening to Earl King when I discovered I could do both!”

Over the years Schermer has gained in musical quality, experience, and professional delivery, something that can be appreciated along the twelve original songs he now presents that include an explosive mixture of blues, soul, rock ‘n’ roll, country and Americana. Mighty Mike moves and easily walks along these musical styles, developing a totally varied and attractive work that will certainly delight most listeners.

A special mention to the group of musicians and guests who surround him, like Steve Ehrmann (Roy Rogers, John Lee Hooker) on bass, Tony Stead (Tommy Castro, Sly & The Family Stone) and Austin DeLone (Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe) on keyboards, Paul Revelli (Joe Louis Walker) and D’Mar (Little Richard, Rick Estrin & The Nightcats) on drums, besides the punctual collaborations of Jerry Jemmott on bass, John Nemeth on vocals, Terry Hanck on sax and the backing vocals of The Sons of Soul.

In short words, here comes an excellent album to be enjoyed and savored again and again at any time.
