Born in New Jersey, Michael Rubin’s family soon moved to California, where Rubin discovered the harmonica at the age of fifteen and, since that moment, he decided his future was related with that instrument. In San Francisco he could see and meet Charlie Musselwhite, Norton Buffalo, Mark Hummel or Rick Estrin to name some of the best-known harmonica players. From those musicians and many others Rubin learned all the harmonica secrets and for years he was member of a good number of local bands like Andy J. Forest or Anders Osborne to name a few. In 1993 he moved to Austin, Texas where he met Gary Primich, who became his mentor, performing in every venue with almost every musician and bands of the area.

This is the first album he has released under his name where he also debuts as a singer, although his strength and interest rely in his work as a harmonica player, an instrument he performs with a concise reliability because, as a vocalist, his shortcomings become more evident. The recording gathers nine own compositions, he has produced together with Josh Fulero. The rest of the musicians include Mike Keller on guitar, Michael Archer on bass, Mark Hays on drums, Emily Gimble on keyboards, Dr. Sick on violin, Josh Fulero on percussion, as well as The McMercy Family Band, a seven voices choir, in some songs.
