Although they come from very different musical fields, these two young musicians met on their way and immediately realized they could make music together.

Harmonica, guitar player and singer Damion Person grew up listening to artists like George Clinton, Parliament/Funkadelic or The Ohio Players, developing his musical tastes in rap and hip-hop, although he was also attracted by the blues he listened on Memphis radio stations. On the other hand drummer, guitar player and singer Cameron Kimbrough comes from a family deeply rooted in North Mississippi hill country blues as, not in vain, he is Junior Kimbrough’s grandson, although, sometimes, he also liked to listen to groups like Metallica. Without having yet reached thirty he lost his job and all his belongings, so he decided to involve himself into music.

When both musicians met, the chemistry instantly appeared. Damion had never listened to hill country blues but he immediately knew his harmonica will perfectly fit in that style. Cameron received from Damion all the energy he needed at that particular time, so they started to work in this project they called Memphissippi Sounds.

The album presents nine songs where fast-paced hip-hop and rap rhythms perfectly combine with the tradition of hill country blues, making as a result an album full of eclectic very actual sounds, which will certainly surprise more than one.
