Memphis Slim is for me one of the best urban blues piano players and singers of all time and one of the most prolific and complete performers with an enormous authority in this genre Memphis came from barrelhouse blues tradition and his major influence was Roosvelt Sykes, he friendly loved and deeply admired Memphis Slim lived his last years in Paris, playing around Europe during the 70’s and 80’s He shares this double album with singer and guitar player Alexis Korner, one of the most fundamental artists of British blues scene Alexis was one of the fathers and founders of the blues in United Kingdom His band, Blues Incorporated, included names like Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce, or even some of the Rolling Stones Undoubtedly the history of British blues has been written with three names, Alexis Korner, Long John Baldry and John Mayall These London Sessions give us Memphis Slim backed by Alexis Korner in two cool intense recording sessions, that were done at the beginning of the 60’s, to be enjoyed with the deep emotional feeling of those who love and live those times blues Thirty-four blues to listen and enjoy them again and again on your music player
