As many other groups, the pandemic severely affected Mary Stokes Band career. Although they reissued their 1999 album “Clouds In My Heart, Live In Dublin”, at the end of the lockdown the band musicians were here and there, they had lost performing training and two of its members decided to leave the group. Facing a coming season where they started to be booked, Mary and her musicians decided they needed to record an album, not only to get back in good form but also to sell it in the summer season gigs.

To do so they went to Displaces Studios where, while sound technicians were just adjusting the equipment, they started to play some blues shuffles to warm themselves up. An hour later they had already produced some songs coming from Little Walter, Walter Horton, Muddy Waters and Otis Rush. They immediately decided to record them, because the feeling that arouse between them made those songs perfect to be included in the album. Seeing the impressive result they got, they decided to follow that line and recorded other versions like “Blues On The Moon”, “As The Years Go Passing By”, “Too Many Drivers” and even a tribute to Rory Gallagher with the song “Sinnerboy” they have included twice on the album to show the energy of the first take and the intensity of the second take.

An album where the whole band wish to give the best of themselves, from Mary Stokes on vocals to Sarah Michelle on guitars, Brian Palm on harmonica, Zamo Riffman on bass, Jay Oglesby on drums and Dermot Stokes on piano, plus a few guests and a horn section in some tracks.
