Mark Telesca is a songwriter, singer, guitar and bass player, as well as leader of his own group In March 2017 he was diagnosed with a lymphoma, so he had to suffer an aggressive surgery and a chemotherapy treatment, which obliged him to stay at home for some long painful months During that time he was able to write and publish a book Love Music – Hate Cancer as well as composing a handful of songs Fortunately his illness has been in remission and now he comes back with more strength than ever, playing and doing gigs almost every night and promoting his book too This new album includes sixteen songs that combine his own compositions with some interesting covers coming from Joe Clayton, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Robert Johnson, Leroy Carr, Scrapper Blackwell, Blind Willie Johnson and Al Green All songs are performed acoustic with the only backing of his voice and his finger style guitar The lyrics of his original compositions show the changes illness has made in his life, as well as the healing power of music
