Although she started as a bass player in different rock bands in her native country Sweden, it was not until she started to polish her guitar and slide guitar playing, that Marie Martens realized she could reach a personal own style, something she has done, as well as becoming self-assured enough to also write her own songs After spending fifteen years in USA, Marie has developed a style that moves between blues and rock Besides, Marie Martens has been able to cleverly select a group of musicians who fully understand her musical language and know how bring the right shape, nuances and expressiveness to let her shine at a high level, not only as a singer but also as a more than interesting guitar player For her debut album she has selected eleven tracks, four own compositions and the rest versions coming from artists like Otis Rush, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Mose Allison, BB King, Jimi Hendrix or Jagger & Richards among others Her first release confirms we are facing an artist with a big potential and a splendid future ahead that I hope she will be clever enough to manage and develop in a good way
