Elegant, with an amazing technique, an excellent left hand and an impressive knowledge of the instrument, these are some of the qualities that could define Barcelona piano player Marc Ferrer. Along his already long career, he has participated in different projects, collaborating with the most outstanding musicians, besides leading his own project, Marc Ferrer Trio.

Marc has locked back in the studio to record an album that, as its title suggests, is a tribute to the great musicians and unforgettable songs rooted in jazz, blues and swing tradition, and he has done it together with his trio musicians, Pep Rius on double bass and Oliver Rocque on drums. The result are fourteen instrumental tracks, two of them Marc Ferrer’s own compositions and the rest versions that belong in to the tradition of the just mentioned styles and the American songbook like “St. Louis Blues” by W.C. Handy, “Summertime” by George Gershwin, “Si Tu Vois Ma Mere” by Sidney Bechet or “If I Had You” by J. Campbell / R. Conelly / T. Saphiro, among other great and unforgettable songs.

The careful song selection and Marc’s good performing taste make this album deserve a careful listening by all music lovers, to discover the many nuances and details Marc Ferrer and his trio give us in this highly recommended recording.
