For some time now I have noticed there are coming out many new and young blues talents This is the case of Norwegian guitarist and singer Magnus Berg who, only aged eighteen, has gained a good recognition among blues audiences and specialized media In fact Magnus began to play when he was only seven years old, with twelve years he was on stage for the first time and only aged seventeen he played at famous Buddy Guy’s Legends club in Chicago He used to go to most blues shows that took place in Norway, but he also travelled several times to Florida with his parents, where he immersed himself into the most traditional blues roots music Back home, Magnus Berg decided to form his own band and risk to try his luck, decided to overcome all difficulties he may find in his way And he has got it In addition to Magnus Berg guitar, vocals and composer together with Kirsten Thien of seven songs included in the album, the other band musicians are Bjorn Tore Daffy Larsen harmonica, Havard Sunde drums and Roy Oscar Pettersen bass You will find seven varied and beautiful original songs together with three covers All musicians have fully involved themselves in the project, showing a good knowledge and musical attitude in each and every one of the cd songs, which rounds up a powerful album with a high quality sound performed with an amazing feeling
