Interesting and especially powerful band led by the superb and amazing voice of singer Mandy Lemons, which has pleasantly surprised me Mandy and her husband, guitar player and producer Sturgis Nikides (who was former member of John Cale’s band) shared their deep love and devotion for Texas blues and Delta blues coming from deep-south of Mississippi Some time ago, both decided to form this band called Low Society, to give free rein to his passion for rock, Americana music and, as we have previously mentioned, blues music, styles that run through their veins and communicate to different audiences in every show they do This album has been performed with a terrific power and an enormous emotional feeling in every of the twelve songs, all written by Sturgis Nikides and his wife Mandy Lemons, except Voodoo Woman and Let Me Ride that come from Koko Taylor and Memphis Minnie Besides Sturgis and Mandy, the rest of the band members are Nick Dodson on bass and Mike ‘Drummerlife’ Moon on drums, plus the special collaboration of Herman Green on sax and Lucero’s Rick Steff on keyboards and accordion This is a great album, full of energy, extremely well performed and produced, where the fantastic voice of lead singer and the rich inspiration of all the musicians involved, should be valued with an outstanding distinction
