Lone Rhino Club comes back with memorable Julio ‘Daddy’ Lobos (now I call him with ‘daddy’ nickname), playing piano, harmonica, accordion, kazoo, melodic, mouth harp, percussion, clapping hands, typewriter sounds, vocals and backing vocals Once again he is backed by his right hand men, that is to say Josep Pasto Martí on bass, Hector Martin on guitars and Eduardo Neto on drums This time they bring us a new attractive very interesting project, which should not be missed For those who are not familiar with Julio, mention he is one of the most charismatic musicians of Barcelona scene, with an enviable wide and long professional career on his back Although this new cd Open Minds is not a blues album, if has interest and quality enough to immediately buy it, because this Is the most eclectic and creative album he has produced till now Julio and his musicians have gone behind the blues to investigate other ways and other sounds, which probably are more avant-garde, more underground and laboratory ones and, I dare say, more alternative ones Julio is also a genuine storyteller who knows how to tell very interesting stories that come from his most deep thoughts His lyrics are caustic, ironic, harsh, even at times quite surrealist but, overall, very critical and questioning, inviting us to a calm deep reflection A total of thirteen songs sung in Spanish have been included in this new work, where you will find a universe of wide influences that will not leave you indifferent
