I can tell you Julio Lobos is one of the most energetic and passionate blues musicians of Spanish blues scene I know Julio since a long time ago and I worship his electrifying intense energy he gives to his favourite blues performings Lobos radiates passion and lets his feelings run wild on stage His live shows are among the better ones I have seen and they always give me an intense joy and touch me to deepest part of my heart For this new cd he has chosen ten well-known covers where he gives the best of himself You will find Muddy Waters’ The Blues Had A Baby, Fred McDowell’s You Gotta Move, Ray Charles’ I Got A Woman, BB King’s Woke Up This Morning, Hoagy Carmichael’s Georgia On My Mind, Tom Waits’ Come On Up To The House, Willie Dixon’s Little Red Rooster, Leiber & Stoller’s Trouble, Cab Calloway’s Minnie The Moocher and finally Got My Mojo Working Julio is also a versatile musician with a long wide musical career on his back but, when he devotes himself to play blues together with his group, The Lone Rhino Club, they become a real steamrolling band Lone Rhino Club musicians are Julio Lobos on piano, harmonica and vocals, Robert Gómez on guitar, José ‘Pasto’ Martí, on bass and Reginald Vilardell on drums A great cd with splendid versions coming from a Barcelona band I eagerly recommend you to go and see them live if they are announced on any bar or club all over Spain
