Thanks to this new album Boogie Wins Again we have the opportunity to meet again one of the most productive and versatile Spanish blues and boogie-woogie piano players I am talking about Lluis Coloma, a tireless fighter and devoted worker for the boogie-woogie cause, both traditional or the new actual one Backed by his usual musicians Marc Ruiz on drums and Manolo Germán on double bass, in this last work Coloma includes a list of fourteen more varied songs than he usually has done in previous recordings Songs coming from Bob Dylan, Lennon and McCartney, Michael Jackson or Meade Lux Lewis among others, together with his own ones, form an interesting showcase of what Lluis musically likes to play now and he even dares to play a superb ‘flamenco boogie’ with the valuable collaboration of flamenco guitar player Miguel Angel Nieto and Roger Blavia on box drum and hand-clapping Those said, we should not think Lluis Coloma has the risk to pretend and think something like I’m great, but just the contrary, once again, with his usual modesty, his sympathy and his amazing technique, he brings us a new album full of magic and beautiful surprises that come out of his heart
