A cd of classic blues with vintage flavor, where veteran but at the same time young piano player Lluís Coloma puts everything into it, giving the best of himself and refreshes listener’s memory with thirteen Chicago blues tracks, deep rooted in the pure tradition of last century 40’s and 50’s blues and boogie piano players The stamp of Barrelhouse Chuck, actual piano player on The Fabulous Thunderbirds band, who produces the album, writes the liner notes, sings I Keep On Drinking, a song of his very darling and missed Little Brother Montgomery, and fills the whole recording with his experience and knowledge, becomes evident along the whole album The cd was recorded in Chicago Steve Yates studios and Lluís and Chuck chose different songs coming from Big Maceo, Otis Spann, Leroy Carr, WC Handy, Clarence Smith, Meade Lux Lewis, Jimmy Yancey, one Barrelhouse Chuck’ own song, three Little Brother Montgomery’s compositions, Avery Parrish’s After Hours and the always amazing St James Infirmary coming from Irving Mills A great atemporal piano blues album, by one of our more recognized and prestigeous piano players In short words, it is a cd that deserves an outstanding place in your record collection
