Excellent fourth recording for Earwig coming from marvellous singer and guitar player Liz Mandeville who shows all her expressive skills and a convincing swing along the fifteen songs included on the cd Our heroine is a habitual musician of Chicago blues circles and, during the last three decades, she has toured extensively around USA and Canada, and she has also become a popular respected name in different European festivals and venues Liz is cleverly and effectively backed by more than twelve musicians, plus the special collaboration of great tenor sax Eddy Shaw, one of the most charismatic Chicago blues saxo players In Red Lop, Liz performs with great taste and commitment her own songs, from blues to soul ballads and the best sassy swing I have heard for years Gifted with a strong vigorous but at the same time charming ductile voice, Mandeville feels very comfortable and combines lyricism with great imagination and an acute sense of humour, on personal poetical lyrics full of a cool originality and sometimes an ironical sensitivity
