During his trip to Memphis in 2017 to receive Blues Foundation ‘Keeping the Blues Alive’ award, Hannes Folterbauer, owner of Austrian record label Wolf Records, took a break in his journey at Duck Hills, Mississippi, to visit Little Willie Farmer, an unknown bluesman few people have heard about, except his close circle of friends and the faithful followers of his weekends shows in old local juke joints In fact, Hannes had discovered him on youtube, and he was impressed by his voice and the way he played guitar So it was the right time to record this album ‘in situ’, that is to say, in Farmer’s house with only a small recording set, to collect fourteen songs that faithfully gather and reflect all the flavour, the spirit, the atmosphere and the magnetic attraction of deep Mississippi blues Born in 1959, Little Willie Farmer is a true representative of those bluesmen who can still be discovered in Mississippi small villages, together with other musicians like Johnnie Billington, Jimmy ‘Duck’ Holmes, McKinney Williams, Arion Babybell or Sam Scott among others who, after daily hard work, spend their spare time playing blues or simply teaching Delta blues secrets to community young black people
